Association of DC Charter Schools Questionnaire

STATEMENT ON DC CHARTER SCHOOLS

Many charter schools offer innovative ideas and programs. I want to take the best characteristics of charter schools and apply them system-wide, including small class sizes and lower teacher-student ratios. I will fight for the continued viability of public education by improving public schools, rather than systematically denying them resources. Public schools have been waiting in line too long for upgrades in physical structure and programs which should not be delayed in favor of newly created schools. I will fight for a funding formula which allows every public school to maintain and upgrade vital programs such as science, music, art, physical education, and libraries so that they can excite the creativity in children to be all they can be. DC voters, not those who lobby Congress to impose its will on voters, should govern public education in DC. --Association of DC Charter Schools Questionnaire
